California seems to be the next state if they decide to legalize online poker, you would assume a state with the largest deficit would be happy to test out any methods possible to fight their growing negative balance however, it seems as though lawmakers and casino owners alike have the own oppositions to sort out. As it stands now, online casino poker has been running hot and cold within the state, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and PokerStars is in talks of a partnership which could pave the way for this new form of entertainment.

Online poker has been a hot industry for some time now, the industry as a whole has been boosted by the press with all of the information and headlines surrounding the form of entertainment which once was not always so popular. In 2006, the entire industry as a whole, was basically shut down for players within the United States due to misleading information surrounding a law that was passed. The UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) made it so that players were not eligible to use their debit cards or credit cards to process online casino transactions. Thus, leaving players in the dark surrounding the entire topic because the new options for deposit hadn’t quite taken effect.

In 2011, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was lifted and players were once again, eligible to use their Visa or MasterCard accounts whether a debit card or a credit card to make deposits into their casino account on top of some of the other options that were available. This would bring revenue to many of the different struggling states should they decide to legalize them? In California, the legalization of online poker might keep more people off of the streets on the weekend which could lessen the crime rates in small strides, it could also bring more revenue for public programs like schools.

A partnership with PokerStars could land the casinos as well as the Native American tribes more money as well, PokerStars is the world’s largest online poker room which is known throughout the world as a company that has been in the media more times over than any other company. When talking about concerns surrounding online casino gaming, you will see statements like the fact that only companies with licenses will be able to operate, with steep licensing fees, some casinos may not have enough to operate which would lose money for some of the land based casinos. At any rate, these are concerns that the state of California will address as all Native American tribes are guaranteed a certain amount of profits from their casinos each month.
