Las Vegas; many have been there, others only dream of having a chance to visit one of the most unique cities on earth. One of the main things that draws a huge crowd is the diversity. Everyone comes here for something different. Some visit the city for its gambling scene of course, others visit for its more family-friendly features like shopping and dining. Also known as The Entertainment Capital of the World and and is famous for its casinos and hotels. The city was established in 1905 and was incorporated as a city in 1911. Las Vegas has some of the best weather, in the summer it can be blazing hot but with abundant sparkling pools, you will have a great time. During the winter you may have freezing winds and maybe some snow but with the exuberant lights of the casinos guiding your way to fun, you won’t have a problem.

Las Vegas is constantly trying new things to keep their visitors enticed. The presence of gambling is alive now more than it ever has been before. As if the city didn’t have enough major attractions, they continue to add more. Giving the entire strip a face lift with just one new addition. When you visit the strip starting in early 2014, you will see a whole new look. Across the street from Caesar’s Palace behind the Quad Resort and Casino and the Flamingo Las Vegas where the O’Sheas Casino used to stand, you will see a gigantic Ferris wheel.

“The High Roller” is the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, it is 100 feet taller than the London Wheel; The London Eye, 30 feet taller than The Star of Nanchang in China and 9 feet taller than The Singapore Flyer located in Singapore. The High Roller is a part of a $550 million expansion brought on by Caesar’s Entertainment, the largest gaming family in the world. The wheel is 550 feet in the air and will take around 30 minutes to complete one full ride. The ride will cost customers about $30 per ticket which has increased from the original $20 per ride. This makes sense because players will essentially spend about $1 a minute and it serves as a family-friendly attraction.

When you think back to your childhood, or even the fall festivals you have attended, you will remember your Ferris wheel cars will be stationed between the metal bars which can sway back and fourth and give you a sense of being suspended without much to hang on to. With the High Roller, there are no more baskets, you will have cars that are mounted on the outside rim of the wheel which will be individually turned by electric motors to keep the floor horizontal during each of the rotations. These cars are more often known as capsules or cabins. These cabins are 300 square feet around and will house eight flat screen televisions with iPod docks. The wheel has been in construction since 2011 and is higher than the Bellagio.

There have been many competitor proposals on the table as well. The Skyvue is another project that was proposed and is similar to the High Roller. The downside to this wheel is that they have had many Stallings in the financial department including eight leins being placed at once for non-payment of labor and building materials. The Skyvue is projected to be 492 feet tall and will be located across from the Mandalay Bay. The website for this project proposes the largest billboard which will play ads that can be seen from the planes landing at McCarran International Airport.

A walking mall is also in the works by Caesar’s Entertainment which will be located between the Flamingo and Harrah’s Hotel and Casino. This walking mall is expected to open this winter. The projected numbers show it will contribute a majority of Sin City tourist dollars by the year 2015.
